It’s the most ‘Wonderful Time of The Year’…
OR so they say, OR so it should be.
So many, actually too many of us find this time of the year very stressful. This year of 2020 can take that stress potentially to a whole new level.
Introducing small ‘wellbeing’ habits into our day, no matter how small can keep us centred and stop us from finding it all too much.
To start the day, we will look at the Morning Routine. I have suggested some ideas below, they are things that I find particularly effective. You don’t need to do them all but I suggest doing what resonates with you and making sure you put a time on it or an alarm so that you make sure you DO get into the habit of ‘Me Time’. The important thing is that you recognise what makes you feel good.
Morning Routine - Good habit ideas to try.
Breathe Meditation or Breathing technique – 5-10 minutes
This has been such a revelation for me. I listened to a blog recently and research shows that 90% of us don’t breathe properly. The benefits I have had since starting breathing meditation (Online with The Soul Spa) has made such a difference to my alertness, fitness and gut health.
Hydrate
Drink a large glass of water with lemon or without if you prefer. It's been well documented that you should drink 2 litres of water a day – this is equal to 3 three and a half pints.
Stretching – 5-10 minutes
I am in my 50’s and find as I get older, stretching is necessary. Not being in control of your body can have an affect on our mental health. There are many online stretching routines to choose from. Find one that works for you. I like ‘Alo Moves’ for online routines.
Walk, jog, yoga or workout
I started walking in the mornings with my friend Anne over 2 years ago. I have never been a morning person, but she invited me to go with her at 6am one morning and I went (Reluctant at first!) and I loved it. Starting the day right and getting some fresh air really can help you feel invigorated.
Shower
Warm Shower followed by a very cold shower for 10 seconds (to start with!). The cold shower forces us to breathe and literally wakes up the senses.
TIP - To add a little luxury to your shower add some Aromatherapy Bath & Shower oil from our range.
Nourish your skin
We can treat our skin with some incredible skincare product. Products that help to cleanse, restore collagen, increase elasticity and hydrate. WE can also nourish our skin from within. A diet that is rich and varied can provide crucial vitamins A, C and E as well as other nutrients and proteins that can help to keep the skin young from within.
